Thanks to National Lottery players, Seadream has secured funding for a fantastic three year project called Plymouth Sound Maritime Heritage
Seadream is delighted to announce securing a 100% project contribution of £77,800 from the Heritage fund.
Plymouth Sound is a bay on the English Channel that marks the entrance to the ocean city of Plymouth. Participants of Plymouth Sound Maritime Heritage will:
- Explore Plymouth’s defence fortifications
- Experience engineering feats such as breakwaters, lighthouses and bridges
- Learn of Plymouth’s important role in discovery and exploration
- Appreciate areas of unique and important coastal habitat and biodiversity
Commenting on the award, Seadream’s founding director, Dr Juliette, says: “We’re delighted to receive this support thanks to National Lottery players. I am passionate about Plymouth Sound, having dived below the surface, sailed across the waves, and, studied the Breakwater during my doctorate thesis. Despite Plymouth’s amazing heritage of national importance, many who live within its environs are unaware of its legacy. Through this project we will facilitate local communities to celebrate their local maritime heritage through exciting activities and trips.”
Seadream Education will lead this project from March 2020 with community participants selected with the assistance of mainstream schools, specialist schools, community groups and public places, such as libraries.
